Adrian is a serial entrepreneur in the fields of investing and real estate development. He oversees the fields of company strategy and business development at VARUNA.

Adrian enjoys playing tennis, practicing yoga and doing meditation.

Michael began his career at Merrill Lynch, DWS and MEAG doing portfolio management. In 2008, he founded Grenbell Advisors and has served as the managing director since its inception.

Grenbell provides a systematic and quantitative approach for constructing exact and dynamic replications for Margrabe options. This work has led to a strategic partnership between Grenbell and Standard & Poor’s which has lasted for the past ten years.

At VARUNA, he is responsible for managing the firm´s investment process, as well as building and developing investor relationships.

Michael received a Master of Business Administration from the University of Applied Sciences Landshut. In his free time, he enjoys endurance running and cycling.

Magrino has worked in quantitative, systematic and automated trading at UBS and some of the major hedge funds in the industry, including Millennium Capital Partners and Capstone Investment Advisors.

Over the past ten years, he developed the infrastructure that VARUNA currently uses for development, testing and automated trading. At VARUNA, he oversees these areas as well as strategy development.

Magrino holds a PhD in Physics from Imperial College London.

He enjoys rock climbing and endurance swimming.

Paola has spent most of her career working for EY as a management consultant specializing in helping organizations use sound mathematical and statistical models—paired with business knowledge—to solve problems, improve business performance, maximize growth and minimize risks.

At VARUNA, she is responsible for managing risks while optimizing returns.

Paola holds a PhD in Engineering from Imperial College London. In her free time, she likes pursuing various physical activities, especially long-distance running and road cycling.

Carl began his career at proprietary trading firms, where he worked as a trader in the futures-market, before serving as head of sales trading at Saxo Bank. For the past 10+ years, he has been a trading, risk and management consultant to hedge funds and proprietary trading firms.

He is a director of VARUNA Management B.V. while also overseeing business management and talent acquisition.

His hobbies are off-piste skiing and playing basketball.

Taisiya has spent 15 years of her career in corporate finance at Berkshire Hathaway, in the insurance / reinsurance division of the company. In the most recent past, she headed the treasury team at GEO Group REIT.

At VARUNA, she is responsible for all financial activities of the company and spearheads the expansion of VARUNA in the American market.

She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in finance and an MBA from Fordham University in New York.

In her spare time, Taisiya enjoys painting, studying Eastern philosophy and meditation.

Matthias brings with him a wealth of experience across leading financial services institutions, having spent over 20 years in the industry. He worked nine years at Abu Dhabi Investment Authority and prior to this fourteen years at Allianz Asset Management.

At VARUNA, as our Global Head of Institutional Business, Matthias is responsible for building and developing new and existing business relationships with pension funds, sovereign wealth funds, commercial asset managers and institutional investors.

Matthias received a Master of Business Administration from Goethe University Frankfurt.

Mathias enjoys skiing, diving, cross training, tennis and golf.

Richard began his career at Shell Trading Limited before moving to The Children’s Investment Fund. Later he joined Arbiter Fund Managers, as Head of Sales.

At VARUNA, Richard is responsible for raising capital and introducing to the fund private market investors.

He attended Kingston University and The King’s School Canterbury. Richard holds CISI certificates in Investment Management and Financial Derivatives.

He is a serving member of the Corps of Royal Signals in the British Army.
